GPS Insight, is one of the top suppliers of GPS tracking hardware and software solutions. They primarily cater to commercial and municipal fleets. GPS Insight today launched a new service called GPS-GPS (477-477) This is basically an advance fleet/commercial vehicle tracking service that combines the power of SMS technology and satellite navigation.

Robert Donat, President of GPS Insight, explained the service in the press release.  477477, will let you instantly locate a vehicle, set up an alert to ascertain the vehicle’s movement, determine the closest vehicles to an address, customer, or vehicle, and much more. The SMS implementation  allows easy messaging to and from dispatch, as well as ‘SMS Notes’ which allow drivers to comment on their activity for inclusion in a stop report. Unlike email-based text messaging and alerts, customers do not need to know the wireless carrier for each cell phone number, which is impractical for large implementations.

Apart from the above functions this service lets you see the movement of a vehicle in real-time on any of the advance GPRS enabled phone, such as , Blackberry or Iphone. GPS Insight works in partnership with Cellit, which is a mobile service provider and is responsible for the SMS side of operations.
